The costs between a kid and a season

Most sports funding goes to the visible stuff: the scoreboard, the new weight room, the championship banner. Play 4 More goes after the smaller costs that show up on a family’s kitchen table.

League and team fees

Entry fees, participation costs, and the paperwork that stands between a student and a roster spot. If a fee is the reason a kid is on the sideline, it’s a fee we want to know about.

Uniforms and gear

Uniforms, practice gear, shoes, and the equipment a program actually needs to run a season. Not a wish list — the stuff that gets used every day.

Travel and tournaments

Buses, fuel, meals, and entry fees for road games and postseason runs. Travel is often the quiet cost that keeps a team closer to home than it wants to be.

Facility time

Gym rentals, field time, and the odd expense that keeps practice on the schedule. Practice is where a season is built, and it shouldn’t depend on luck.

What we don’t cover

  • Salaries, stipends, or coaching contracts
  • Expenses already covered by the school district
  • Club, select, or travel teams that aren’t school-affiliated
  • Equipment that isn’t tied to a current season or program

If you’re not sure whether a cost fits, ask. A short email is cheaper than a guess.

Grant sizes

Grants vary with the need and the season. Some requests are a few hundred dollars for a bus or a set of uniforms. Others are larger. Ask for what the program needs and we’ll be honest about what we can do.

We would rather fund a clear, specific need than a vague, big one. Tell us what the money unlocks.

How a request works

  1. Email grants@play4more.org with the school, program, contact, and amount.
  2. We’ll ask a few follow-up questions if we need them.
  3. The volunteer board reviews requests before each season.
  4. If approved, funds go to the school program and we follow up after the season.
