APPLY.TXT

Who can apply

Public high school athletic programs in Spokane County, Washington. That includes teams and programs based at a public high school and supported by the school.

Our focus is on requests that remove a direct cost for students. If a program serves a mix of schools or a regional team, email us and we’ll figure out whether it fits.

What we fund

We cover the costs that keep a season moving:

  • League and team fees
  • Uniforms, practice gear, shoes, and equipment
  • Buses, fuel, meals, and tournament entry
  • Gym rentals, field time, and facility costs

We do not fund salaries, coaching stipends, expenses already covered by the district, or club and select teams that aren’t school-affiliated.

What to send

You don’t need a formal application. Send an email with:

  1. Your school and program
  2. Your name, role, and best contact
  3. How many students the program serves and which grades
  4. The specific need and the amount
  5. What the money would cover
  6. Any deadline or date the funds are needed by
  7. Whether the school or another group is covering part of the cost

Email grants@play4more.org with your school and program in the subject line.

What happens next

  1. We read the request and ask follow-up questions if something is unclear.
  2. The volunteer board reviews requests before each season.
  3. We send a decision in writing.
  4. If approved, funds go to the school program. We check in after the season to see what the grant made possible.

FAQ

Do you fund individual athletes?

No. Grants go to school programs so the whole team benefits. If a program needs help covering a participation fee for a student, the school can include that in its request.

Do you fund club or travel teams?

Our focus is school-affiliated programs. If your team is connected to a public high school, tell us how and we'll take a look.

How much should we ask for?

Ask for what the program actually needs. Grants vary with the need and the season. A specific number and a clear explanation are more useful than a range.

When are decisions made?

Requests are reviewed before each season. Email first and we'll tell you where things stand and whether there is time before your season starts.

What if we don't have a 501(c)(3)?

You don't need one. Public school programs apply through their school. We'll confirm the right contact and payment details with you.

Communities we serve

We focus on Spokane County, including Medical Lake, Cheney, Airway Heights, Spokane, and the surrounding communities. Partner schools and funded programs will be listed here as grants are awarded.
